Who can legally value property in Georgia?
An official property valuation — one that a bank, a court or a government body will accept — cannot be prepared by just anyone in Georgia. The law is clear about who may: a certified valuer.
Who may perform a valuation
An official valuation report is prepared by a certified valuer — a person who has completed a certification programme and holds a valid certificate. The certificate is issued by a certification body that is itself accredited by Georgia’s National Accreditation Center (GAC), in line with the international standard ISO/IEC 17024 and the International Valuation Standards (IVS).
Who oversees quality
A valuer’s work is monitored by the certification body — it reviews reports, issues recommendations and, in case of violations, may suspend the certificate. The certification body is in turn accredited and overseen by Georgia’s National Accreditation Center (GAC), in line with ISO/IEC 17024 and the International Valuation Standards (IVS). This two-tier system keeps reports reliable and standards-compliant.
What directions the certificate covers
A certificate is issued for a specific direction, and a valuer may work only in the field they are certified for:
- Real estate valuation — apartments, houses, land, commercial premises.
